Get More Protection And Peace Of Mind If You Use Microsoft 365 In Your Business

As more and more businesses move to the cloud, one of the things that people worry about is "how safe is my data"?

This is common, and understandable, as it feels like it is less under your control when you can't physically see a server in the office, with all your data, email and user account information on it.  It is less tangible if it is somewhere else, out of sight, in the mystical cloud, especially if you are unsure of how it has all been setup, has it been done correctly, is it as secure as it can be etc.

Things change, as does who is sometimes looking after the Office 365 environment in the business, or people change rolls so should lose access to certain things but often don't,  so it is worth knowing the state of the security health in your Microsoft Tenant, and get a regular understanding of who can access things or has elevated rights.

Microsoft constantly changes and updates the Microsoft 365 environment, adding new software, new functionality and new features as well as deprecating older applications or lesser used functions from applications.   This can alter or move where settings are which could result in settings being overlooked or things not being configured as securely as they could be.

The Silver Cloud Business has a suite of tools that can help us assess Microsoft 365 and ensure the tenant is as secure as it could be based on its licensing (different licenses enable different layers of security) and allow us to generate reports based on this configuration, and to come up with recommendations based on the output.

An interesting finding is that if a Microsoft tenant gets compromised by hacker, so if they get admin entry to the environment, they typically won't do anything malicious for days or weeks, meaning there is time to find them before they do anything, BUT, only if this is being monitored, and it is something that doesn't happen with standard Microsoft 356.

This is where our suite of tools becomes REALLY powerful as it also allows us to monitor Microsoft 365 as close to real time as possible, notifying us if there is a login using an administrator account, also notifying us if there is unusual activity in the tenant, such as mass deletion of files, or someone setting up a new way of sending out email that it copies all email to an additional recipient (a great way to gather information about an organisation), again, with us being alerted to these changes.  Someone may have shared data in your environment to others externally that you don't know about. Wouldn't it be nice to know these things when they happen rather than find once there is an issue or a data breach?

We generate a range of reports for clients, based on their support package, these reports are

  • Admin Tracker
  • External Forwarding Checker
  • License Tracker
  • Sharing Tracker
  • Security Report
  • Login Tracker
  • Site Permissions
  • Mailbox Size Report
  • All Mailbox Folder Permissions
  • SharePoint and OneDrive Size
  • Accounts

The Microsoft 365 environment is very secure, if configured correctly, the trick is ensuring it is configured correctly and remains that way.

If we can monitor it, we can manage it and keep your environment secure, protecting your business data and your business's reputation.
