Encryption Security Solutions

  • Introduction

What Is an Encryption Security Solution?

An encryption security solution is the scrambling of data using a key (there are various types of keys that can be used such as password, passphrase, certificate etc) and keeping the key safe so that the intended user can unlock the data but no one else can. But why do businesses need it, a lot of businesses would see themselves as not having anything that is really that important, but we beg to differ.

    Introduction
  • The benefits

Why Businesses Need an Encryption Security Solution?

    • Modern computers usually all come with a trusted platform module (TPM) chip and most operating systems now have encryption built in as a feature that can be enabled so it doesn’t cost anything to protect the data.
    • The need to safely store the encryption keys for all of the computers and ensure they are held securely in a repository where they can be retrieved if need be by someone with elevated IT security privileges should there be a hardware fault and the data needs to be retrieved from the disk.
    • This way if a computer is lost, stolen or retired, the data on the hard disk remains inaccessible. And it demonstrates to the regulator that the business or organisation takes data protection seriously so in the event of a breach the liability will be reduced.
