Tech Tip – How To Search For Related Websites Or Synonyms Using Google

If you need to do something like research a competitors website and look at similar websites for comparison, or you need to search for information about something but don't know the right words to type in, well....

Here are two Google tips that will give you with what you need:

Search Tip Number 1 - How to search for similar websites

To search for a website similar to the one you are looking at, for example YouTube:

• Open Google
• In the Google search box, type: related:youtube.com 
• Press Enter and Google will list all websites related to YouTube

Search Tip Number 2 - How to search for synonyms (a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase) for example  how to search for sites where you don't know the exact words to look for, for example using affordable computers:

• Open Google
• In the Google search box, type:  ~affordable computers
• Press Enter and Google will list all websites with different but relatively similar websites, for example cheap computers, budget computers, etc
