How To Turn On WhatsApp Encrypted Backups
Facebook has released a new feature which is encrypted backups for WhatsApp messages when saving them to Google Drive or Apple iCloud.
The feature needs to be enabled because it is not enabled by default.
If you would like to turn on encryption in your backup for your important WhatsApp messages, here is how to turn it on:
- Ensure you are running the latest version of WhatsApp (download from your phones application store)
- Open WhatsApp and go to "Settings"
- Select "Chats" => "Chat Backup" => "End-to-end Encrypted Backup"
- Select "Continue" then follow the prompts to create your password or your 64-digit encryption key
- Select "Done"
Your important messages should now be encrypted when backed up
