Security implications because of changes in how we work

The pandemic has resulted in significant changes in how businesses and people work, the pandemic caused the biggest change in ways of working and organisations had to rapidly adapt.

Staff have found themselves richer in a couple of ways, both richer in time, no longer having to commute, and financially by not having to pay for the commute as well, with some seeing themselves several thousands of pounds better off each year.  It's therefore not surprising that a survey in August 2020 found that nine out of ten people who were working from home, wanted to continue to do so even after lockdown ends.

But these changes have also made businesses more susceptible to exploitation and attack because of the way that staff are no longer working inside the "trusted office network".  This is why it is imperative for the business and staff to have the necessary security in place.  This could be as simple as a written policy instructing staff with what to do if they suspect they have been targeted or it could be more sophisticated such as multi-factor authentication, end to end encryption and automated data policies.

The Silver Cloud Business has been working with many clients in Salisbury, Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire and in many cases far further as well,  to ensure they have the best configuration of their systems to minimise their risk and exposure.

We can now also offer our clients Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation as well, allowing businesses to demonstrate to clients and third parties that they take their security seriously.
